If you can not measure it, you can not improve it.

It is the basic rule when we try to carry out a plan. In 2011, there are a leadership training workshop hosted by ISOC in Colombo in May. In the workshop, our lecturer try to training us to help us carry out our plans in local chapter. One of the most important ideas that Peter told us is – “If you can not measure it, you can not improve it.”

Before we leave Colombo , most of us figure out the measurable plan by ourself.

I set the target to promote the ISOC.Taipei and network in university. By the promotion activities , we can share the ISOC vision with young students and group the volunteers .By my original idea, we should achieve the following results.

1. Conducts ten activities in university.
2. More than 1000 people to participate in the activity
3. More than 100 people to follow the ISOC local chapter Facebook page
   

 

The first qutesion is : How to get the funding and resources for activities .

There is a Chinese proverb – Makes an effort taking advantage of the strength. In my past experience , TWNIC will fund the activities in university. Microsoft and Campus also would like to have some activities with students. Professor would like have activities to pass the teaching comments. I made many conferences with them. Finlay, TWNIC funds the professors to have the activities . Microsoft and Cisco provide the lecturers and human resource support. I am responsible for the arrangement coordination .

In this year, TWNIC try to group Taiwan’s youong volunteers (like net mission or young fighter in HK) . So I Invited some lecturers to share the public welfare experience by network.

 

 

For example

In National Dong Hwa University (Hualian city) , there are 245 students attend the activity. I Invited Mrs. Cat. She loves cat and share the photos on her blog. By her blog, more and more people notice a small cat town “Houtong” . She already organized several voluntary workers to help the cat.

 

 

In Ilan university (Ilan city) , there are 195 students attend the activity. I Invited Taiwan NPO Information Platform.  They try to provide the information platform for NPOs.

In Tamkang University (New Taipei City) , there are 183 students attend the activity. I Invited Mr. Aga Tasi. He is a famous youtube Creator. He use the video to share his idea . His newest movie is taunting the high unemployment rate. By his way, young people can share their idea by youtube or facebook.

In National Taitung University(Taitung City) , there are 128 students attend the activity. I Invited Mr. Andrew Lee. He is a famous open-source fighter. He holds a small computer company in east of Taiwan. He encourage schools use the open-source software for teaching.

 

 

In National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology (Kaohsiung City) , there are 110 students attend the activity. I Invited Mr. Lee . He is the general manager to  Lioho Tourist Night Market. His major is Medicine. However, he choose a very different way . He setup facebook for Lioho Tourist Night Market and hold many activities.  (Hmmmm…When you hold the activity ,the biggest advantage is  “you can Invite anyone that you want~ ”)
